Home Supportive Services January 2005 to January 2013
The
In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program provides services to people over 65
years of age, blind and disabled. The goal of this program is to allow people
to remain safely in their own homes and avoid the need for out of home care.
Services
covered: meal preparation, and cleanup, feeding, bowel and bladder care,
bathing, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, laundry, shopping for food
Domestic
services: sweeping, vacuuming, washing, and waxing floors; washing kitchen
counters, and sinks; cleaning the bathroom; storing food and supplies; taking
out garbage; dusting and picking up; changing bed linens
